The opportunity:

You as a Country Trade Compliance Officer (Open) will be part of Hitachi Energy's business based in Lilydale, Australia. You will oversee, manage, and monitor the implementation of the governance framework for Global Trade Management at the country level. You must ensure that Business Units conduct their activities in line with this Corporate Regulation, its Annexes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), processes, and guidelines.

How you'll make an impact:

  1. You will take instructions from the Regional and/or Global Head of Trade Management and the Head of Global Trade Compliance, driving and coordinating the regional, cluster, or country-level implementation of the GTM. Ensuring trade compliance and efficient trade at these levels.
  2. You will coordinate with the Head of Global Trade Compliance to create country-specific trade policies and procedures, especially where local laws or regulations require dedicated trade policies. You will support Business Units on trade-related issues such as export control, customs compliance, sensitive countries, screening, etc.
  3. You will analyze trade flows and customs duty spend to identify duty savings opportunities, collaborating with Business Units.
  4. You will provide guidance and improvement suggestions to Business Units on trade issues and may stop individual transactions or business with specific partners if necessary.
  5. You will update stakeholders on potential risk areas and trade issues, provide trade-related training, conduct reviews and audits, and escalate issues to the Head of Global Trade Compliance as needed.
  6. You will embody Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your actions and caring for colleagues and the business.
  7. You will ensure compliance with applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • Any bachelor's degree, diploma, or degree in subjects related to Trade Compliance, Export Import, Customs management.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Trade compliance, Import/Export Compliance, Customs management, or Taxes.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
