About The Venue

Located just one hour south of Sydney in the scenic Illawarra region, Novotel Wollongong Northbeach is a premium 4.5-star beachfront hotel overlooking North Wollongong Beach. The hotel offers 209 stylish rooms and suites with breathtaking ocean and mountain views. It features five food and beverage outlets, a pool, fitness centre, convenience store, and 15 versatile event spaces making it a destination for both leisure and business guests, as well as a premier venue for weddings, conferences, and large-scale functions.

About The Role

We are currently hiring chefs of all levels, who will play a crucial part in our à la carte kitchen\'s success, contributing to the creation of delectable dishes that delight our guests. If you are passionate about the art of cooking and are eager to work in a dynamic and creative culinary environment, we want to hear from you

Available shifts will predominantly cover afternoon/evening hours with start times of 12pm, 1pm or 2pm.

Key Responsibilities

Casual/Commis/Demi Chefs

  • Assist in the preparation and production of various dishes.
  • Follow recipes and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
  • Learn and develop culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs.
  • Assist in the receiving and storage of food and supplies.

Chef de Partie

  • Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and oversee food preparation
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-energy work environment.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies and minimise waste to optimise kitchen efficiency.
  • Assist with menu development and special event planning
About You
  • Culinary degree or relevant culinary training is preferred
  • Experience in an à la carte kitchen is essential
  • Comfortable in Grill, Pans, and Fryer sections
  • Previous experience in a hotel or banquets environment is an advantage
  • A passion for culinary arts and creativity in the kitchen
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Evening and weekend availability required
