As Partners for Parks' Executive Director , this role is a unique opportunity to help shape the organization's future. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, oversee day-to-day operations, help build community and donor relationships, support and grow the board, and strengthen the organization's visibility and impact.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, relationship-driven leader who is excited to build the organizational infrastructure, elevate fundraising efforts, and champion the critical role of parks in community well-being.

Reports to: Partners for Parks Executive Board – President, Secretary, and Treasurer

●This is an independent contractor position, with the intent of an increase in weekly hours in the future.

● Position will require some schedule flexibility for special events and meetings - weekday evenings and some weekend days.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of P4P's strategic priorities in partnership with the Board of Directors.
• Build and strengthen the board's capacity, structure, and engagement.
• Serve as the organization's public voice and ambassador, enhancing visibility and credibility with key audiences.
• Enhance and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including individual giving, grants, sponsorships, and events.
• Cultivate relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and government partners.
• Provide stewardship to existing supporters/patrners and inspire new ones to invest in P4P's mission.

Operations & Administration

• Manage organizational operations, budget, and reporting to ensure financial sustainability.
• Work with the Communications Committee Chair and others to build a compelling media and communications presence.
• Coordinate with public agency partners to align efforts and amplify shared goals.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

• Strengthen relationships with Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation, civic leaders, and community groups.
• Facilitate meaningful public engagement to understand and advocate for community park needs.
• Identify and leverage collaborative opportunities across sectors to grow P4P's impact.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven leadership in nonprofit management, community development, philanthropy, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations.
• Strategic thinker with strong planning, organizational, and execution skills.
• Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and public speaking abilities.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a start-up environment.
• Passion for parks, equity, and community well-being.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid or remote-friendly, with a preference for Charlotte-based candidates.
• Must be able to attend in-person meetings and events across Mecklenburg County.
• Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required.
• Some light lifting (up to 30 pounds) and local travel.
• The Executive Director is expected to provide their own computer, internet access and communication tools necessary to fulfill their responsibilities of the role.
• No additional technology stipend or equipment will be provided.

Contract Position (Remote/ Part-time)

• This is a part-time, contract-based position for an Executive Director to lead and manage the operations of a nonprofit organization. The role is fully remote and requires a commitment of20 to 25 hours per week.
• Compensation (Hourly Rate or Monthly Retainer): Competitive and commensurate with experience, nonprofit sector knowledge, and leadership capabilities. Final compensation will be negotiated based on scope and expectations.
• Contract Term: Initial 12-month agreement, with potential for renewal based on performance and organizational needs.
• Payment Schedule: Contractor will invoice monthly or bi-weekly, with prompt payment upon approval of hours or deliverables.
• This is a1099 independent contractorposition and does not include benefits such as

health insurance, paid time off, or retirement contributions.

• The role offersflexible schedulingand autonomy in managing work hours, while maintaining

accountability for key deliverables, meetings, and deadlines.
