Support Delta's Energy Markets Risk team with in-depth market risk analysis, model development, and insights to inform trading strategies.

Your role

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the creation of comprehensive market scenarios and energy market risk assessments, identifying emerging trends and their potential impacts on Delta's energy market activities.
  • Conducting market risk analysis using and enhancing models such as earnings at risk, value at risk, mark to market, volumetric, and stress testing.
  • Developing and managing market risk information systems to ensure accurate and efficient data handling.
  • Assisting the Energy Markets team by providing in-depth risk analysis and supporting the development of trading strategies that maximise returns within defined risk limits.
  • Performing situational analysis to gain a deeper understanding of the market forces affecting Delta's business and performance.
  • Analysing market risks and developing models to assess price fluctuations, volume/market changes, and plant failure risks.
  • Preparing and delivering detailed reports and dashboards, presenting modeling outcomes and insights into market risk.
About you

Qualifications

  • A degree in Economics, Science, Finance, Mathematics or Engineering, or be graduating by mid 2025.
  • Substantial knowledge and experience in statistical analysis and research techniques, including the use of research methods and the documentation and presentation of findings.
  • Strong initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to take ownership.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly convey complex data insights to key stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial modelling, forecasting, and market analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, SAS) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in the energy supply industry, including pricing, markets risk analysis, market rules and regulations is desirable.
