Brisbane, Queensland, Australia ASIC Full time
Overview

A future with ASIC means that your work will contribute to ASIC's vision for a fair, strong and efficient financial system for all Australians. We value those with sharp, analytical minds and are open to challenging the way things are done.

The Enforcement and Compliance Group (ECG) plays a central role within ASIC, with teams conducting initial inquiries, compliance activities, or enforcement actions across various sectors excluding markets. ECG identifies and investigates potential misconduct, determines appropriate responses, and pursues administrative, civil or criminal outcomes. ECG handles a wide range of complex and high-impact matters, from early-stage assessments to large-scale investigations and litigations, supported by in-house legal teams and partnerships with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions for criminal matters. ECG's ongoing priorities reflect its commitment to protecting consumers through proactive enforcement.

Please note that this recruitment process will establish a pool of Investigators to fill current and future vacancies in our ECG teams.

The Role

As an Enforcement Investigator, you will contribute to investigations of suspected misconduct and obtain enforcement outcomes. You will have the opportunity to participate in varied, interesting and impactful work.

  • Work as part of multi-disciplinary enforcement teams.
  • Engage in investigation planning and discussions about scope and strategy.
  • Employ a range of evidence gathering techniques, including interviewing witnesses, taking witness statements, preparing affidavits, participating in the execution of search warrants, conducting compulsory examinations and issuing compulsory notices.
  • Utilise ASIC's evidence management technology and other systems to derive insights from data, information and documents.
  • Contribute to the preparation and compilation of criminal, civil and administrative briefs and provide support to proceedings in State or Federal Courts.
About You

You will have an inquisitive and analytical mindset, be comfortable working with complex information in a changing environment, and be proactive and outcome-driven. You should have a consultative and collaborative interpersonal style and enjoy working as part of a large, multi-skilled team.

  • Experience in an investigative or similar role; transferable experience from law enforcement, forensic accounting, insolvency, intelligence, data and other relevant industries is welcome.
  • Degree in commerce, finance, business, criminology or another related discipline.
  • Comfort with large and complex information or data sets using evidence management software and investigative tools.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for using investigative skills to make a positive difference for investors and consumers in the Australian financial system.

Experience in complex investigations will be favourably viewed.

Note: You will not be required to submit a separate cover letter for this role; you will answer questions related to your experience with systems, enforcement outcomes and working with witnesses as part of the application form.

Interviews will be held in person from 15 – 26 September 2025 in your applicable office. To work with us, you need to be an Australian citizen and be prepared to complete an ASIC Suitability and Baseline Assessment issued by ASIC's Security team.
