Overview

Join Monash University as a Senior Clinical Psychotherapist in addiction research. You will deliver psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for opioid use disorder within clinical trials conducted by the Computational Neuroscience Laboratory and the Addiction and Impulsivity Research Group. This role implements the psychotherapy component of psilocybin treatment, supporting participants through preparation, dosing and integration phases in accordance with protocols and ethical standards. Working in a multidisciplinary research environment, you will ensure therapeutic rigour, participant safety and trial integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality psychotherapeutic care within psychedelic-assisted treatment protocols for opioid use disorder in clinical trials.
  • Implement the psychotherapy component of psilocybin treatment, including preparation, dosing and integration phases in line with protocols and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, researchers and trial coordinators to deliver high-quality psychotherapeutic care aligned with clinical and research goals.
  • Conduct participant screening, psychological risk assessment and documentation of clinical outcomes for regulatory and scientific reporting.
  • Develop and implement clinical processes and performance indicators to support the research group's success and compliance.
Qualifications
  • Postgraduate qualifications with extensive experience in psychotherapy for addiction, trauma or complex mental health conditions.
  • Clinical Psychology endorsement with AHPRA is essential.
  • Strong expertise in psychological risk assessment and managing altered states of consciousness.
  • Advanced planning, communication and analytical skills; the ability to work ethically and effectively in innovative treatment settings.

  • Duration: 2-year fixed-term appointment
  • Remuneration: $140,157 - $148,769 pa HEW Level 09 (plus 17% employer superannuation)
