Why Your Role Matters

The Collection Development Librarian supports the Collection Development and Policy Unit by providing high-quality services, advice, and support to internal and external clients. Responsibilities include analyzing data to inform collection decisions and engaging with vendors to ensure accurate contractual and licensing agreements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide statistical data and trend analysis on subscriptions and acquisitions to support decision-making.
  • Assist with data analysis related to use, access, and pricing for collection development.
  • Support subscription renewals, purchases, and collection processes.
  • Undertake collection projects as approved by the Library Executive Team.
  • Coordinate with other units and vendors for effective collection management.
  • Organize vendor trials and training sessions for electronic resources.
Who You Are
  • Degree from a higher education institution or equivalent experience. Membership of the Australian Library and Information Association is a plus.
  • Understanding of collection development issues in academic publishing.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of scholarly resource needs in higher education.
  • Experience with relevant technologies and data analysis.
  • Experience influencing collection policies and procedures.
