Workplace Location

Ryde Hospital is undergoing a $479 million redevelopment to transform healthcare delivery for the local community. The project includes new and improved facilities such as emergency, critical care, inpatient, community, and ambulatory care services. Construction started in early 2023, providing an opportunity to be part of shaping the future of health services in Ryde.

Key Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Trainee in Emergency Medicine is to provide high-quality medical care under appropriate supervision to undifferentiated patients presenting to the Emergency Department. Trainees should operate within their expertise and collaborate with colleagues, seeking consultation when necessary. The position is suitable for those planning to apply to ACEM for training during the year.

Position Benefits
  • Four hours per week protected training time
  • No overtime unless desired
  • At least two weeks annual leave every six months with proper notice
  • No night shifts in the four weeks prior to exams
  • Mentoring from Co-DEMT who is an examiner
  • Attendance at Network Primary Exam training and GOODEM conferences
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant qualifications and experience as per Essential Requirements
  • Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Willingness to deliver medical education and training
