Overview

Real Time Operations Manager role at AusNet. Victoria's primary Transmission Network Service Provider, supporting the National Energy Market, renewable energy integration, and reliable power for Victorians.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the real time control and operations of the Victorian Transmission network, ensuring safe and effective operation within engineering principles, rules, regulations and contracts.
  • Oversee the monitoring, control and response functions of the 24/7 Transmission Operation Control (TOC) room and real-time activities.
  • Ensure optimum network performance with timely network security decisions, work coordination, operational switching and safe program delivery.
  • Collaborate with VicGrid, AEMO and other stakeholders on Transmission Operational Planning; monitor and improve performance by driving efficiency around network access, control, and incident response.
  • Drive for improved network outcomes in the NEM while maintaining compliance and high customer/stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership for delivery partner contracts and strategic partnerships, ensuring service and safety standards, achieving cost savings and fostering long-term relationships.
Qualifications
  • Degree in electrical engineering (operational, power system, network planning) with the ability to hold Victorian engineering registration.
  • Experience in the transmission network environment with knowledge of safety and operational obligations and risks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian transmission network and the role of the TNSP within the National Energy Market (NEM).
  • Understanding of outage standards, network incentive schemes related to the NEM and Transmission Network; knowledge of network continuity and security of supply.
  • Experience implementing operational and productivity improvements in complex environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to think strategically and align with corporate objectives.
  • People leadership skills and readiness to respond to emergencies (e.g., storms, bushfires, floods) as needed to support customers and communities.
