Shaping young lives and inspiring our community to follow Christ

Are you a spiritually mature, theologically grounded and thoughtful Christian leader with a genuine love for people? Are you an outstanding, creative communicator experienced in working with a rich and diverse community? Are you energised and inspired by young people, with a commitment to Christian education? St Andrew's Cathedral School is seeking an experienced and visionary School Chaplain to cultivate a vibrant, Christ-centred culture across our School community.

About The Role

As School Chaplain, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the spiritual life of the School, supporting the community at key events and moments, with an active faith that is welcoming and inspiring. You will be an outstanding communicator, able to articulate the truth and beauty of the Christian gospel to a variety of stakeholders, from all walks of life. You will mentor staff and student leaders, oversee chapel and discipleship programmes, teach within the Christian Development department, and offer pastoral care to students, staff, and families, with a commitment to 'faith in action' and restoration.

You will provide strategic oversight and spiritual direction to embed a Christian worldview across teaching and learning, 'bridging worlds and building futures' with the First Nations community, while actively engaging in the broader life of the School.

This is a deeply relational, missional, and formational role — ideal for someone with a heart for young people, a gift for communicating and teaching, and a strong capacity to lead with grace and theological depth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and co-ordinate chapel services, discipleship programs, student-led ministries (CRU) including on significant days for the First Nations community, in a manner that is thoughtful and respectful.
  • Mentor and support staff in integrating a Christian worldview into curriculum and practice
  • Provide leadership and support to the Christian Development team.
  • Offer pastoral care and guidance to students, families, staff and alumni.
  • Organise key spiritual events, including services and special gatherings.
  • Participate in and contribute to the co-curricular life of the School.
  • Show a commitment to 'faith in action' by participating in student service activities and character development.

About You
  • An ordained Evangelical Anglican Minister (or eligible for licensing by the Dean of Sydney).
  • A mature and authentic Christian with a deep commitment to the gospel and the mission of Christian education.
  • An outstanding communicator with strong pastoral instincts and theological clarity.
  • Proven ability to connect with and disciple young people and to interact with a diverse community.
  • Experienced in Christian leadership within a school, church, or youth ministry context.
  • Committed to team leadership, collaboration, and mentoring others.
  • A critical and creative thinker, who in turn inspires our students to be critical and creative thinkers.

Desirable
  • Formal teaching qualifications or a willingness to pursue them.
  • Familiarity with the structures and ethos of Anglican or Christian schooling.
  • Familiarity with First Nations culture.
