The Role

Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel OR Senior Legal Counsel to join their high-performing legal team in Sydney. This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic legal support across a portfolio of major infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on MC, D&C, Construct Only, ECI, PPPs and other significant construction initiatives.

As in-house counsel, you will provide commercially focused legal advice across all stages of the project lifecycle. Working closely with senior leaders and project teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that align with the organisation's strategic objectives.

In this role, you will:

• Draft, review, and negotiate a range of complex project agreements, including MC, D&C, Construct Only, ECI, PPPs and long-term construction contracts.
• Manage legal aspects of major developments from inception through to delivery.
• Advise on contract strategy, claims management, and dispute avoidance.
• Support key commercial decisions to drive project success.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have 4-8 years of PAE (Post Admission Experience) from a reputable law firm or in-house role, with extensive experience in front-end legal work and project delivery within the construction sector.

Key attributes include:

• Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex construction contracts.
• Practical experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on contract strategy, claims management, and dispute resolution.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• A proactive and adaptable mindset, able to navigate and resolve complex challenges.
• Capability to work independently and excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
