Pine Lake Prep, a North Carolina A rated public charter school, is seeking an engaging and innovative Middle School Math Teacher (grades 6-8). We are looking for a passionate educator to add to our team

Essential functions of teaching positions include:

Instruction and Lesson Planning :

• Design and deliver well-structured lesson plans that align with state and national math standards.
• Use diverse teaching strategies, including hands-on activities, technology, and collaborative group work, to cater to students with varying learning styles and abilities.
• Modify lessons to meet the needs of students, including those with special needs and advanced learners.
• Encourage students to apply mathematical reasoning to solve real-world problems, promoting deeper understanding beyond memorization, inspiring students to develop critical thinking skills that they can apply both in and out of the classroom.
• Regularly reflect on teaching practices to refine and improve instructional methods.

Classroom Management :

• Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages active participation and collaboration.
• Address and manage student behavior effectively to maintain a focused and respectful classroom atmosphere, establishing and maintaining clear expectations for behavior and classroom procedures.
• Ensure a well-organized, safe, and conducive learning space, with readily available materials and resources.
• Foster a classroom environment that is stimulating and orderly to support optimal student learning.

Assessment and Feedback :

• Administer a variety of assessments (e.g., quizzes, tests, projects) to monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback on student assignments and assessments.
• Continuously evaluate student performance and adjust teaching methods to ensure all students achieve success.
• Offer targeted support to students struggling with mathematical concepts through individual or small-group assistance.
• Provide enrichment activities for advanced students to further challenge and stimulate their learning.

Collaboration and Teamwork :

• Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and staff to coordinate cross-curricular initiatives and integrate math with other subjects.
• Attend regular team meetings with administrators, counselors, and parents to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement.
• Maintain open and consistent communication with parents regarding student performance, behavior, and academic needs.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and other necessary documentation.
• Submit grades and required reports within designated time frames and ensure transparency in grading practices.

Candidates must hold a B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field of teaching, and NC Certification in teaching in the appropriate subject area.
