
Social Activities Coordinator

The volunteer Social Activities Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of community spirit and connection among club members. This role involves planning and hosting weekly social dog walks, as well as coordinating a variety of social events throughout the year for members to enjoy without their dogs. The aim is to strengthen relationships within the club and create opportunities for members to engage beyond the training grounds.
Non-Committee Role
This is a voluntary, non-committee role that provides flexibility and creativity, perfect for someone who enjoys bringing people together and creating fun, inclusive experiences.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Weekly Social Walks:
Research and identify suitable, dog-friendly walking routes across the Mornington Peninsula
Organise and host weekly group walks for Club members and their dogs
Share details of each walk promptly via appropriate channels (e.g., Facebook)
Ensure walks are inclusive, welcoming and well-paced for a variety of members and their dogs
Take photos and /or videos during walks to capture highlights and share with the Social Media Content Creator, Website Content Coordinator and Newsletter editor
Member-Only Social Activities (Non-Dog)
Plan and coordinate occasional social activities for members (without their dogs) such as:
o Movie nights
o Club dinners or lunches
o Trivia or games nights
o End-of-year Christmas celebration
Source appropriate venues and manage activity logistics, including bookings and promotions
Capture images and/or videos from activities (where appropriate) to support content creation for the Club's communications platforms
Encourage participation and build excitement around upcoming activities
Community Building:
Provide a welcoming presence during all scheduled activities, helping members feel included and connected
Gather member feedback and suggestions for future events
Collaborate with other Club volunteers to ensure activities align with the Club's values and calendar
Relationships
• Reports to Secretary
• Liaises with the President, Committee Members, Social Media Content Coordinator, Newsletter Editor and Website Content Coordinator and Club members
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
Friendly, welcoming and member-focused personality
Ability to plan and coordinate activities with attention to detail with a flexible approach
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Enthusiastic about building relationships and strengthening Club culture
Basic photography or smartphone photo/video skills
Accountability
Reports to Secretary
Provides regular updates on upcoming walks and activities, including attendance, feedback and suggestions and contributions for club communications
Commitment
• 12-month commitmen
Approx. 2-3 hours per weel
Training
Training will be provided on previous activities to assist with planning, promotion and coordination, ongoing support, guidance and collaboration will be available from the Committee
