We are seeking a permanent, full-time Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the Financial Management team by providing timely and accurate financial information and analysis to aid management decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Preparing monthly journals and assisting with month-end reporting.
  2. Maintaining and updating the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions.
  3. Supporting year-end statutory reporting and audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  4. Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  5. Conducting weekly and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash reporting.
  6. Collaborating with internal stakeholders to improve process efficiencies.
  7. Performing ad hoc tasks as required.

This role offers hybrid working (60% in-office) with flexibility to discuss arrangements that suit your needs.

About you

You will have:

  • Started your ICAANZ or CPA qualification.
  • Experience in professional services is desirable.
  • An understanding of financial accounting, especially general ledger maintenance.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIFS.
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-finance stakeholders.
  • A client service focus, professional presentation, and a proactive approach to task prioritization.
  • Proficiency in software applications to enhance financial processes.
  • A desire to learn, grow, and mentor others.
