Background

St Vincent's College is an independent day and boarding school offering a contemporary Catholic Education for girls in Years 7-12. Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1858, and now under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, we are a dynamic learning community, cherishing our Catholic heritage and fostering creativity, courage, discernment and leadership in young women.

The College is seeking to employ a professional and enthusiastic Boarding Coordinator / s.

The position is casual with a regular roster and includes overnight passive duty. Staff accommodation is available for exclusive use whilst on duty.

The ability to work week and / or weekends should be stated in your application.

The Role

The Boarding Coordinator role supports the Dean of Boarding with the following :

  • Ensuring the well-being, safety, pastoral and academic care of the Boarder
  • Possessing knowledge of each Boarder and their families
  • Facilitating the behaviours expected of adolescent girls living in community
  • Supervision of the day-to-day routines of boarding life
  • Maintaining accurate records and rolls
  • Possession of a full knowledge of the Coordinators Handbook, associated procedures, and the College Staff Handbook
  • Facilitation of academic progress via supervised study
  • Administer medications as required
  • Maintaining good relations and communication with parents
  • Ensuring the environment is clean and tidy
  • Liaison as required with the Dean of Boarding and other staff
  • Timely communication to the Deans for Junior, Middle and Senior School
  • Undertake evacuation and lock-down drills and ensure WHS issues are dealt with
  • Aid in planning and implementing the weekend activity program for the Boarders, and during weekdays
  • Maintenance of documentation, including the daily report
  • Being available before the beginning and after the end of each term for setup and pack-up of Boarders
  • Understanding of the College's Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct, Bullying Policy, and Workplace Health and Safety Policy, and assisting in their implementation
  • Willingness to undertake other duties as required for the smooth running of the Boarding House
  • Completion of induction, training in College procedures and policies related to Boarding, and Duty of Care training provided by ABSA

Qualifications / Certifications

  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid) and HLTAID009 (Provide CPR) or willingness to undertake
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid or willingness to undertake
  • Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates or willingness to undertake
  • Driver Licence (preferred but not essential)
  • Duty of Care Certification from ABSA or willingness to undertake
  • Other relevant qualifications (e.g., nursing, teaching, youth work, residential care, adolescent health)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • High-level ICT skills
  • Capacity to maintain a duty of care focus at all times
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
  • Understanding of adolescent development, especially in girls
  • Ability to identify and support Work Health and Safety needs of the Boarding House
  • Support of policies, processes, procedures, and routines of the Boarding House
