About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing Data Engineering team based in Perth, WA, on a 12-month contract. This role is pivotal in designing, building, and optimising scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytics, data science, and business intelligence initiatives.

You'll work with modern cloud-native technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions.

Key responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining ELT/ETL pipelines.
  • Building data models on cloud data warehousing platforms.
  • Implementing orchestration workflows and data quality frameworks.
  • Optimising performance and ensuring data governance compliance.
  • Contributing to architectural design and mentoring junior engineers.

This is a fast-paced, solutions-oriented role ideal for someone who thrives in collaborative environments and is passionate about data engineering excellence.

The Successful Candidate

You will bring 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with proven expertise in tools such as dbt, Snowflake, Databricks (PySpark/Scala), and Airflow. Strong SQL skills and proficiency in programming languages like Python or Scala are essential. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), version control (Git), and data warehousing concepts is required. Desirable skills include familiarity with Informatica IICS, Kafka, Docker/Kubernetes, and Terraform. You should also demonstrate:

  • A deep understanding of data governance, security, and privacy regulations.
  • A cloud-native mindset and experience with serverless architectures.
  • Awareness of DataOps/MLOps and how data supports AI/ML initiatives.
  • A strong focus on cost optimisation and data observability.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for continuous learning, ownership, and delivering business value through data.
