NURSERY ROOM LEADER

We are seeking an exceptional qualified childcare professional to oversee the daily operations of their room. The role involves caring for children, maintaining a stimulating learning environment, supervising staff, and sharing knowledge to enhance practice. The ideal candidate is a creative, reflective leader capable of implementing new ideas and strategies to support continuous improvement and assist the management team.

In September 2025, we will open a new Preschool and Nursery at Valentine School, serving children from 6 months to 4 years old. The setting will have a teacher-in-charge responsible for high-quality teaching and learning planning. Your role will be to deputise for the teacher-in-charge and provide outstanding leadership to the team.

GENERAL ROLE FUNCTIONS:

  1. Be responsible for the operation of a room/age group within the nursery.
  2. Plan activities for the room/age group (with staff support); assess children's progress; resolve issues; communicate with the manager; and ensure routines and expectations are followed.
  3. Collaborate closely with the manager and other room leaders.
  4. Interact with, supervise, and ensure the safety and happiness of children; support the nursery team in daily operations.
  5. Manage a key worker group, overseeing their learning, assessments, and supporting all children in the nursery.
  6. Follow policies and procedures at Mason Moor Primary School; work within child protection laws, Keeping Children Safe in Education, health and safety legislation, and Ofsted and National Standards guidelines.
  7. Work as part of a team, supporting staff and children in the nursery.
  8. Share responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
  9. Manage a team effectively.

Additional Information:

The Room Leader will serve as a key person, responsible for providing safe, high-quality education and care for pre-school children. They will lead and manage room staff daily and implement nursery policies.
