Overview

Senior Plant Technician - Electrical/Instrumentation role at Origin Energy. The position is based at Mt Stuart Power Station, Townsville, focusing on electrical, instrumentation and high voltage assets to ensure reliable, efficient and economical plant operation with emphasis on electrical integrity and instrumentation accuracy.

Key responsibilities
  • Safe and effective operation and maintenance of power station assets.
  • Prioritise personnel safety and ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and commercial standards.
  • Lead Permit to Work (PTW) processes for all power station activities (Major & Minor).
  • Manage plant outages and support project works involving electrical systems and control instrumentation.
  • Coordinate and manage High Voltage assets on site such as transformers, generators and protection systems.
  • Champion systems such as HSEC, PTW, CMMS, SCADA, Management of Change and DCS, with a focus on electrical and instrumentation reliability.
  • Participate in the site on-call roster and provide after-hours technical support.
  • Act as Station Manager when required, with a focus on electrical and instrumentation oversight.
What will you bring?
  • Trade Certificate in Electrical Fitting & Instrumentation, or equivalent.
  • Experience in steam or gas turbine operation and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of condition monitoring, rotating equipment, and control systems in power generation or heavy industry.
  • Advanced skills in SAP CMMS, with experience in managing work orders, inventory and purchasing.
  • Experience with SCADA, DCS and Historian systems for monitoring and control.
  • Proven experience with Permit to Work and safe access systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of managing electrical workloads independently.
