- Provide an efficient and effective legal service to clients in accordance with legislation and directions, policy, guidelines and practice standards.
- Deliver quality legal services by conducting casework including taking instructions, undertaking research and analysis, preparing documents, preparing matters, instructing counsel and if admitted, appear as a lawyer in various courts and tribunals to effectively advocate for legal aid clients.
- If and when admitted, provide duty lawyer services (when accredited), legal information and advice to clients and the public.
- Liaise with appropriate Legal Aid Queensland's stakeholders, other government agencies and community organisations in relation to case information.
- Support Legal Aid Queensland's contributions to policy, procedure, law reform and legal service delivery initiatives as required and participate in the development of team plans and work practices.
- Respond to guidance and performance feedback and be committed to self-development and knowledge building to remain up to date with legislation, policies and procedural changes.
- Ensure all work complies with quality and case management standards and meet all other professional and corporate responsibilities.
- Model the values of respect, quality and accountability.
- Maintain a high standard of practice through governance and risk management.
- Foster an inclusive workplace where inclusion, diversity and wellbeing are promoted and prioritised.
- You have knowledge of various legal jurisdictions and procedure, legislation relating to those various areas of law and relevant ethical standards.
- You are committed to self-development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the law, procedure and the principles of trauma informed practice.
- You communicate in a clear, concise and articulate manner and engage effectively with stakeholders including clients with complex needs.

You have graduated with a degree in law, have completed or expect to complete PLT and admitted by the end of March 2026 and have not practiced as a legal practitioner for more than six months at the time of application.
Multiple full-time temporary positions are available across several locations in our network, including Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Maroochydore, and Bundaberg. These roles will commence in February 2026 and continue through to December 2027.
