Your Role

Are you passionate about leading high-performing engineering teams and driving technical excellence at scale? We're looking for a strategic and inspiring Manager – Digital Engineering in our retail technology business to elevate our technical and engineering capabilities across Digital Sales & Services platforms.

  • Lead and mentor a team of Technical Leads, while influencing a wider community of engineers across multiple squads.
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards, ensuring architectural consistency and technical quality across platforms.
  • Define and execute technical strategy that supports brand autonomy and enables faster, decoupled releases and improve speed to value.
  • Champion engineering culture through Dev Guilds, capability uplift, and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
  • Influence the tech platform roadmap, aligning engineering initiatives with business goals and modern delivery practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver scalable, maintainable, and customer-centric digital solutions.

  • Frontend: React, Tailwind, Storybook
  • Backend: NestJS, AWS (Lambda, Microservices)
  • Tooling: NewRelic, Playwright, GitHub Copilot, Nx, RsPack

This is a full time permanent opportunity based in major locations of Australia and New Zealand.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in complex, multi-brand digital environments.
  • Strong technical foundation in modern web technologies and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable roadmaps.
  • Passion for mentoring and uplifting engineering capability.
  • Experience with platform thinking, federated delivery models, and enabling autonomy at scale.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and can deal with ambiguity.
