Maintenance Manager - Light Vehicle & Fleet Rentals

New Rental is a rapidly growing fleet rental provider, supporting clients in the mining, civil, and industrial sectors with mine-spec utility vehicles and light trucks. We're looking for an experienced and motivated Maintenance Manager to take full ownership of fleet maintenance, vehicle quality, and workshop performance.

This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership and coordination across our rental servicing operations.

What You'll Be Doing

Fleet & Workshop Management

Coordinate and lead all vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repair work (in-house and external)

Perform diagnostics and fault finding on a wide range of vehicles, including Landcruiser, Hilux, HiAce buses, and Isuzu 4x4s

Ensure statutory servicing and roadworthiness checks are completed and properly documented

Schedule and manage preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and maximise fleet availability

Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and compliance documentation

Help remove trays off and on vehicles

Coordinate fit-outs and accessory installations for new and returning vehicles

Workshop Management & Coordination

Ensure servicing schedules, compliance checks, and vehicle inspections are completed on time

Drive efficiency, safety, and productivity in the workshop

Maintain parts inventory and coordinate procurement

Communicate with operations and rental teams to plan downtime and availability

Customer & Team Communication

Provide clear progress updates and technical recommendations to operations or external clients.

Submit daily reports and work closely with management on ongoing improvements.

Ensure all work aligns with New Rental's commitment to quality, safety, and uptime.

What We're Looking For

Trade qualification in Automotive or Light Vehicle Mechanics (essential)

Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a mechanical or fleet maintenance role

Proven ability to manage repairs on Toyota, Isuzu, and Hino or similar fleet models

Strong diagnostic skills and expertise with specialist tools and scanning equipment

Effective communicator – both technical and customer-facing

Attention to detail, time management, and pride in workmanship

Valid Australian driver's licence (manual required; HR or forklift a bonus)

Bonus If You Have:

Previous leadership or supervisor experience

Fleet/rental experience in a mining or high-usage environment

Familiarity with vehicle compliance and servicing software
