The Communications Directorate plays a vital role in enhancing the Department's image and reputation, while also promoting education initiatives of the WA Government. We achieve this by delivering comprehensive services including:
  • internal communications
  • external communications
  • communications campaigns and strategies
  • brand management
  • strategic communications advice
  • media strategy and management
  • public relations and marketing activities.

The Digital Content team are the digital communication experts within Communications. The team manage all digital communications, including:
  • websites, our intranet, digital forms, podcasting and social media channels
  • digital strategies, policy and advice
  • online asset management (internal and external)
  • providing specialist advice and training in social media, content creation and writing
  • performance analytics.

Collaborating closely with other business units, the Digital Content team ensures alignment of key messages, and the timely publication of announcements, information and campaigns. The team works across the Department to provide expert digital advice and tailored content solutions.

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic Communications Consultant - Digital Content with creative flair and a 'can-do' approach who embodies our work behaviours of being purposeful, connected, high performing and ethical. As part of the Digital Content team you will contribute to a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • writing clear and engaging content for our websites, intranet and social media platforms
  • collaborating with the wider Communications team and key stakeholders, to coordinate, create and evaluate digital communications
  • managing content on our digital platforms in line with policies, processes and digital best practice
  • monitoring and reporting on website, intranet and social media performance and contributing to the continuous improvement of the same
  • analysing data and developing content strategies to meet strategic communication goals
  • monitoring and moderating social media
  • creating and editing authentic and meaningful video and photography for use across digital communications channels
  • contributing to the timely delivery of communication and engagement support as directed by the Manager Digital Content.

Responsibilities may vary depending on team needs, and you will be working in collaboration with other team members to achieve these goals. In a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, you will need exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Communication / Stakeholder Engagement
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships in a dynamic environment.

Critical thinking / Problem solving
  • Well-developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions and provide recommendations to complex problems aligned to strategic direction.

Team
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, contribute to the achievement of team outcomes and share expertise.
