The Opportunity

Are you ready to launch your career with a global leader in building materials? James Hardie is on the hunt for enthusiastic and driven Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This is a great opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges.

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components within our manufacturing environment. You'll be supported by experienced mentors and gain exposure through hands-on experience and professional growth opportunities to help you grow your technical skills and set yourself up for long-term success. This role will commence in January 2026.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical support for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Learning the products of the business and understanding their applications
  • Understanding customer value and the impact on manufacturing and supply chain
  • Understanding manufacturing processes and the drivers of quality, cost, safety, reliability, speed, waste, and delay
  • Apply structured problem solving to drive continuous improvement within the plant
  • Apply problem solving, communication & other skills to deliver on relevant projects
  • Deliver all technical tasks to comply with quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls to enable completion on time and within scope
  • Effectively contribute to the achievement of team and project goals
  • Carry out work in a safe manner, in accordance with Safety procedures as applicable
  • Actively participate in improvement projects
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute to 5S and Kaizen activities

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Demonstrate a safety-first attitude
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Tech savvy and curious, with high learning agility and flexibility of style
  • A desire to grow and develop a long standing career within the business
  • Previous exposure to engineering such as Vacation or Internship experience advantageous but not essential
