Are you interested in supporting young people to develop job readiness skills? Sign up to volunteer as a practice interviewer for Year 9 students in the RIJI program.

The Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network (BNLLEN) is a not-for-profit, independent community organisation that supports 20 secondary schools in the Banyule and Nillumbik local government areas. BNLLEN develops school, community, and industry partnerships, working alongside local secondary schools to improve career development and create opportunities for students to learn about the world of work.

RIJI supports local students to build their job-ready skills and experience a practice interview. We are seeking local industry and community volunteers to participate as interviewers for this program. We currently have students registered who would greatly benefit from your time, effort, and knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct one-to-one mock job interviews with Year 9 students from Banyule and Nillumbik schools.
  • Provide students with feedback on their resume/cover letters, interview answers, and presentation.
  • Participate in training and use provided materials.
  • Each interview lasts around 20 minutes per student, followed by 5 minutes of verbal feedback and an additional 5 minutes for written feedback.
Location

Eltham and/or Bellfield

Time Required

Volunteers can commit to as many event days as they would like and can choose full or half-day sessions (AM or PM).

Event dates:

  • Thursday, 23 October (Eltham)
  • Thursday, 30 October (Bellfield)

Volunteers will also need to attend one online induction session on Tuesday, September 2 or Thursday, September 18.
