About the Opportunity

As our Seeing Eye Dog Mobility Instructor, you will provide dog guide services to meet client needs, in line with the International Guide Dog Federation Standards and Vision Australia policies, procedures, and values. In this role you will:

  • Instruct clients in the use and care of Seeing Eye Dogs as a mobility aid
  • Interview applicants to assess their suitability for training
  • Assess dog suitability and train selected dogs to matching standards

About You

You should be qualified as an Instructor with a school recognised by the International Guide Dog Federation. You should be able to form effective working relationships with clients and deliver person-centred services. You will also have:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including walking approximately 12 kilometers a day in all weather, and handling young, active dogs
  • Understanding and applying current animal welfare and dog training principles
  • Well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
