Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and hands-on Educational Leader & Assistant Director to join our Merrylands service. This dual-role position is based on the floor, working directly with children, educators, and families to deliver high-quality early learning experiences. As an Educational Leader, you will mentor and support educators, guide curriculum implementation, and ensure best-practice educational outcomes for every child. As Assistant Director, you will assist in the day-to-day operations of the service, supporting the Centre Director with staff management, compliance, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.



Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire a team of educators, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and a high-performing culture on the floor.
  • Work alongside educators to mentor, support, and model best-practice early childhood education.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, budgets, resources, and compliance, ensuring smooth centre management.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, holistic learning programs that support children's growth, curiosity, and development.
  • Prioritise health, safety, and wellbeing, creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for every child.
  • Build strong relationships with families and the community, promoting involvement and the centre's values.


Qualifications and Skills
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA-approved equivalent)
  • At least 6 months' experience as an Educational Leader or in a leadership role
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certifications
  • Child Protection training/certificate
  • Experience or strong interest in leadership and management pathways
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
