The Opportunity

NSW Government is seeking a collaborative and proactive Finance Business Partner to join their friendly and supportive team on a 6-month contract, with potential for extension.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this role involves partnering with stakeholders across the department to provide financial insights, support budgeting and forecasting, and deliver key management reports that drive decision-making.

Located in Sydney CBD, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner seeking a dynamic role in a values-driven organisation.

What You'll Be Doing:
  1. Partner with stakeholders across the department to provide financial guidance and insights.
  2. Assist with preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  3. Participate in monthly management meetings and prepare business partner notes.
  4. Support cash flow forecasting and management reporting.
  5. Assist with month-end processes alongside the finance team.
  6. Provide financial advice to non-financial stakeholders to support business decisions.
  7. Prepare reports, dashboards, and analysis to support business performance.
  8. Contribute to a collaborative and approachable team culture.
What We're Looking For
  1. 3+ years' experience in a Finance Business Partnering role.
  2. Strong budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting skills.
  3. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability.
  4. Proactive and hands-on approach with strong relationship-building skills.
  5. Previous experience in Government or public sector desirable (not essential).
  6. Experience with MyWorkZone, PowerBI, PowerPivot, or similar budgeting tools is a bonus.
  7. Positive, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset.

The Details
  • Location: Sydney CBD
  • Contract: 6-Month Temporary Contract
  • Rate: $ $81.25 per hour + Super
  • Work Flexibility: Hybrid – Up to 2 Days WFH
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Reporting To: Senior Finance Manager
  • Eligibility: Must have full Australian working rights (Permanent Resident/Citizen/Partner Visa)
