Job Description

As a GCP Engineer at NCS, you will work hands-on, designing, building and maintaining infrastructure as code and applications built on Google Cloud.

Your responsibilities include designing, deploying, and supporting various Google Cloud Platform solutions and services such as Cloud Run, Google Kubernetes Engine, Google Cloud VMware Engine, and Compute Engine. This includes secure foundations/landing zone delivery, cloud migrations, and infrastructure as code with Terraform delivered via a GitOps methodology. A deep understanding of DevOps principles, platform delivery, and application/developer enablement is essential. You will work with a wide range of applications and architectures, requiring a solid understanding of APIs, software development practices, networking concepts, and security best practices.

You will collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, provide ongoing support, and identify continuous improvement opportunities. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to adapt to evolving requirements and technologies in the dynamic cloud landscape. A strong consulting mindset, customer-first attitude, and focus on secure software delivery are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and support Google Cloud Platform solutions and services (e.g., Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud VMware Engine, Compute Engine).
• Deliver secure foundations/landing zones and perform cloud migrations.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform with a GitOps approach.
• Apply DevOps principles and enable platform delivery and application/developer enablement.
• Engage with a range of applications and architectures, understanding APIs, development practices, networking, and security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project delivery and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Communicate effectively and adapt to evolving cloud technologies.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Cloud Engineer developing, implementing or managing secure Google Cloud solutions at an enterprise level.
• Hands-on Google Cloud experience.
• Experience with Terraform at an advanced level for infrastructure as code.
• Ability to script in Python or Bash.
• Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and deployment of platform solutions.
• Experience with core GCP services such as Compute Engine, App Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, etc.
• Strong networking knowledge (VPCs, subnets, load balancing, firewalls, DNS) and secure, scalable network design on Google Cloud.
• Security-focused with understanding of cloud security principles, threats, and mitigation.
• Willingness and ability to hold a government security clearance.
• Professional-level Google Cloud certifications (Cloud Architect, Cloud DevOps Engineer, Cloud Developer or other).
