The Department of Education is seeking applications for Special Education teachers to fill vacancies across Western Australia, including a full-time contract in the Goldfields DAMA region.

Who we are looking for

You must have a recognised initial teacher education qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent, or an undergraduate degree with a postgraduate teaching qualification.

Eligibility and training requirements include:

  • Evidence of eligibility to work in Australia
  • Current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance
  • Working with Children Check
  • Completion of the Department's Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
  • Participation in the Department's induction within three months
  • Any role-specific training as per Departmental policy

Final-year students or teachers with less than two years of experience are encouraged to apply.

Job duties

The main duties of an early childhood teacher include:

  • Planning and structuring learning experiences indoors and outdoors
  • Developing motor, social, and language skills through diverse activities
  • Observing and evaluating student progress and health
  • Engaging with parents and participating in community programs
  • Supervising student teachers on placement

Teachers work in line with departmental policies and standards.
