The Religious Education program at St Patrick's College works in partnership with all other faculties of the College. In particular, it works closely with the Spiritual Development program to ensure a holistic, human, and authentically Catholic formation of students, staff, and parents. As an experienced educator, you will delight in providing students with meaningful opportunities to engage with life's deepest questions, enhancing their understanding of the nature and significance of religion.

Permanent full-time position - Commence Term 1, 2026.

As a Religious Education Teacher at St Patrick's, you will play a vital role in guiding young men to think deeply, act justly, and live with faith and integrity. You will combine strong subject knowledge with engaging teaching practices to create learning experiences that are both intellectually rigorous and spiritually enriching. With a collaborative approach and a passion for student growth, you will foster a classroom environment where curiosity, respect and reflection thrive, supporting the holistic development of students in the Edmund Rice tradition.

In addition, there is the possibility of an Assistant Year Coordinator position being attached to this role, offering further leadership opportunities for suitably qualified and experienced applicants.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you satisfy all of the following selection criteria:

• A working understanding of, and commitment to the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition.
• Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundariesthat reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
• Qualified to teach Religious Education (Stage 4 and Stage 5) and Studies of Religion (Stage 6) withNESA Accreditationand approval to teach in NSW.
• Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner.
• Demonstrates effective classroom management through clear expectations, proactive behaviour strategies, and fostering a positive learning environment.
• Demonstrated success in differentiation of curriculum.
• Effectively incorporates ICT into teaching, learning, and assessment to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
• Postgraduate qualifications (in leadership, education, religious education or theology).
• Demonstrated capacity for leadership within a school setting, including experience in student wellbeing or year group coordination.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a year group or wellbeing team, with strong communication and organisational skills.

(a) What do you see as the greatest wellbeing challenges facing students in a contemporary school and how would you assist the Year Coordinator to address those challenges?

(b) Describe a time where you have been proactive in addressing a student wellbeing issue?

A working understanding of, and a commitment to the Catholic ethos of a school in the Edmund Rice tradition, a valid Working with Children clearance and participation in the co-curricular program, are essential conditions of employment.
