Religious Education Teacher Position Overview

The Religious Education program at St Patrick's College works in partnership with all other faculties to deliver a comprehensive and holistic education. As an experienced educator, you will play a vital role in guiding students to think deeply, act justly, and live with faith and integrity.

This permanent full-time position commences Term 1, 2026, and offers the opportunity to foster a classroom environment where curiosity, respect, and reflection thrive. In addition, there is the possibility of an Assistant Year Coordinator position being attached to this role, offering further leadership opportunities for suitably qualified applicants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality Religious Education programs that cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote student growth and development.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a year group or wellbeing team to ensure a cohesive and supportive school environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and meet reporting requirements.
Selection Criteria:
  • A working understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of a school in the Edmund Rice tradition.
  • Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
  • Qualified to teach Religious Education (Stage 4 and Stage 5) and Studies of Religion (Stage 6) with NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW.
  • Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner, including effective classroom management and differentiation of curriculum.
  • Effectively incorporates ICT into teaching, learning, and assessment to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (in leadership, education, religious education, or theology) and demonstrated capacity for leadership within a school setting.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a year group or wellbeing team, with strong communication and organisational skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent.
  • Teaching Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience teaching Religious Education in a secondary school setting.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated capacity for leadership within a school setting, including experience in student wellbeing or year group coordination.
  • Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in teaching and learning.
