Lead Data Engineer/Data Management Lead

Lead Data Engineer/Data Management Lead role at Cognizant. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS Redshift, AWS DMS, AWS S3, Databricks, Fivetran, DBT & ETL tools (like Informatica/SSIS) and knowledge of Guidewire ClaimCenter and PolicyCenter for insurance domain data integration. This role involves designing and implementing scalable data platforms, managing complex data pipelines, and ensuring best practices in data quality, governance, and security. Strong leadership capabilities are required to guide a team and deliver high-performance, cost-effective data solutions.

The Lead Data Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of large-scale data architectures and workflows across AWS and Databricks environments. This role involves integrating data from enterprise insurance systems (Guidewire ClaimCenter and PolicyCenter) into centralized analytics platforms, driving automation, and implementing governance frameworks. The position demands a mix of technical expertise, architectural vision, and team leadership to deliver business-aligned, high-quality data solutions.

• Cloud & Data Platforms: AWS Redshift, AWS DMS, AWS S3, Databricks
• ETL/ELT & Integration Tools: Fivetran, DBT
• Insurance Platforms: Guidewire ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter
• Data Architecture & Modeling: Data warehouse & Lakehouse design, Dimensional Modeling, Performance Tuning
• Programming & Scripting: SQL, Python & Unix
• Automation & DevOps: Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD for data workflows, Git, GitHub workflows
• NoSQL Databases: AWS DynamoDB, MongoDB
• Data Governance & Quality: Data security, lineage, compliance, and quality management
• Leadership: Proven track record in managing and mentoring data engineering teams

• Provide architectural expertise in defining and driving the right solution to meet technical performance, scalability, flexibility, operations, and capability needs.
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers to deliver robust and scalable data solutions.
• Architect, design, and implement enterprise-scale data warehouse and lakehouse solutions on AWS and Databricks.
• Develop and maintain high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS DMS, Fivetran, and dbt.
• Integrate data from Guidewire ClaimCenter and Duck Creek PolicyCenter into centralized data platforms.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver business-aligned data solutions.
• Implement and enforce data governance, security policies, and compliance frameworks.
• Optimize performance, cost, and scalability of AWS and Databricks environments.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain operational excellence for data systems.
• Stay up to date with emerging tools, frameworks, and best practices in data engineering.
• A data-driven mindset, ability to clearly communicate complex business problems and technical solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: >100,000
