Overview

An Australian member owned bank is seeking to appoint two Senior Compliance Specialists. These newly created roles present an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the cultivation of a robust compliance culture in a principled financial institution that prioritises the welfare of its members.

Reporting to the Compliance Manager you will play an integral part in ensuring that regulatory requirements are fulfilled, risks are judiciously managed, and the organisation continues to uphold the highest standards of honesty, fairness, and efficiency in its financial services. Strong exposure to breach assessment and reporting, and providing compliance advice with knowledge of ASIC, APRA, AML/CTF and related frameworks. What you'll do
  • Embed rigorous compliance management practices across the organisation as a Senior Compliance Specialist.
  • Offer expert counsel on regulatory matters, assist business units in understanding obligations, and proactively identify areas susceptible to emerging risks.
  • Maintain meticulous records of compliance activities, prepare detailed reports for internal committees and external regulators, and contribute to continual refinement of frameworks that support sound risk management.
  • Balance scrupulous attention to detail with strategic foresight to address incidents and realise systemic enhancements.
  • Build trusted relationships across departments to collaborate on policy improvements and process optimisation, helping nurture a culture where compliance is fundamental to exemplary member service.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of complex regulatory obligations while monitoring prevailing compliance practices.
  • Provide timely, considered compliance advice to business units on all pertinent financial services legislation, prudential standards, regulations (including AML/CTF), codes of practice, internal policies, risk appetite statements, and organisational values.
  • Evaluate compliance incidents with relevant teams to ensure effective remediation and mitigated future non-compliance risks.
  • Report breaches and potential breaches promptly to regulators and internal committees in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintain precise registers for compliance breaches and other essential Compliance documents.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of documents and tools underpinning the Compliance Risk Management Framework.
  • Prepare submissions, attestations, certifications, and reports for regulatory authorities, Management, and Board Committees.
  • Foster structured stakeholder relationships at all levels to achieve shared compliance objectives and offer constructive challenge when needed to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Assist in policy updates by drafting, reviewing, and revising relevant documents with key stakeholders.
