Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Gosford Hospital and Wyong Hospitals at Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD).

Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and/or hold other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.

Central Coast comprises the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, with a population expected to grow from approximately 300,000 to 450,000 by 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.

This position involves obligations to Gosford Hospital under Sessional arrangements and Wyong Hospital under Fee For Service arrangements. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.

  • Medical Practitioner registered or eligible for registration in Australia, including an unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.
  • Recognized specialist qualifications, such as Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
  • Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Orthopaedic Surgery.
  • Completion of a 12-month Fellowship in Complex Trauma and Revision Arthroplasty.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents, and students; experience in teaching management of deteriorating patients is advantageous.
  • Interest in quality improvement methodologies.
  • Commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals, and strategies, with behaviors aligned to NSW CORE Values and CCLHD Values and Behaviors.
