Inland Rail is seeking Principal Engineers to lead technical design and delivery within the Track and Structures domains across the Inland Rail Program. The program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project from Brisbane to Melbourne, including upgrading existing standard gauge track, enhancing capacity for double stacking, and constructing new standard gauge links with viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges.

About the opportunity

Shape the Future of Australian Rail—your expertise matters. This is a Program Level role with multiple positions available in the Track and Structures streams. You will lead technical solutions, guide design excellence, collaborate with diverse teams, and help deliver a legacy project benefiting communities for generations.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead technical solutions across the Inland Rail program
  • Provide expert advice on design and delivery risks
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare high-level technical papers and board presentations
  • Champion innovation and engineering value management
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
About you

We're looking for people with deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for making a difference. Ideally you will have:

  • Extensive experience in rail infrastructure
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience influencing at senior levels and driving industry standards
