We are seeking an experienced, detailed and organised Accountant to join Austin Group in Malvern. Based at our Support Office and reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll oversee the finance function for our womenswear brands Cable and Perri Cutten.
Responsibilities
- Month-End Closure: Oversee the month-end closing process for the Cable and Perri Cutten retail brands, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Manage and ensure the accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations for both Cable and Perri Cutten retail brands.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and lodge BAS, Payroll Tax, and Workers Compensation compliance for Australia (AUS).
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the annual budget process, collaborating with key stakeholders to draft accurate financial forecasts for both brands.
- Payroll Journal: Post and maintain the fortnightly payroll journal for the employment entity, ensuring accurate processing.
- Leave Provision Adjustments: Annual Leave and Long Service Leave provision postings.
- Tax & Accounting Queries: Assist the finance manager with queries from external tax advisors and other financial inquiries related to compliance or reporting.
- Incentive Calculations: Calculate and process bonus incentives for retail staff, ensuring they align with company policies.
- ABS Surveys: Complete and submit quarterly Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) surveys in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Supplier Management: Maintain and set up suppliers in the accounting system, ensuring all records are up to date.
- Ad-Hoc Support: Assist the Assistant Accountant with various tasks and projects as required, supporting the overall accounting team.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary or related qualifications.
- 2–3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Preferred CA / CPA (or in the process of completing).
- Accountancy experience, preferably in the retail or services environment.
- Proficiency in reconciling balance sheets, ensuring accuracy in all financial reports.
- Knowledge of general month-end accounting tasks, including but not limited to accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet schedules and timeframes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
- A detailed and focused approach to work.
- Developed analytical, numerical skills and practical application thereof.
- Highly developed written and verbal skills.
- Accurate and speedy data entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A positive and proactive 'can do' attitude.
