About SMHS and Rockingham Peel Group

Rockingham Peel Group is part of the South Metropolitan Health Service, one of the fastest growing health services in Western Australia and comprises two hospital campuses, Rockingham General Hospital and Murray District Hospital, in addition to community and mental health services across Peel, Rockingham and Kwinana. SMHS delivers quality, safe and effective hospital and health services within a catchment area stretching more than 3300 square kilometres across the southern half of Perth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist surgical services to patients.
• Promote patient safety and quality of care.
• Provide leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education for doctors in training, health service medical practitioners and other health workers.
• In collaboration with the Head of Department and other Consultants, work to achieve national, state and SMHS performance standards and targets and work within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the SMHS Area Medical Credentialing Committee.

Employment Details

• This is a recruitment pool for Permanent Full Time / Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time / Part Time, Sessional and Casual appointments with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. The pool may be used to fill vacancies until 29/05/2026.
