Local Delivery, National Support
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced, values-driven Head of Employment Services to provide strategic leadership and operational excellence across our employment services portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to shape programs that make a tangible social impact while delivering sustainable commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor external economic, political, and social trends, as well as industry best practices, to inform innovative service growth, risk mitigation strategies, and the identification of potential business opportunities and partnerships.
- Analyse internal portfolio trends, challenges, and opportunities to support sound policy development, strategic planning, and effective risk management.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic portfolio plans focused on delivering high-quality services, enhancing user engagement, and maximising participant choice, control, and flexibility-aligned with HELP's customer journey model and organisational synergy.
- In collaboration with the CEO and Operations Leadership Team, develop, manage, and regularly review the annual Employment Services budget to ensure alignment with HELP's strategic and operational priorities.
- Lead by example to cultivate a high-performing, values-driven culture where staff are empowered to improve work practices, pursue continuous improvement, and maintain safe, inclusive environments.
- Provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and coaching to portfolio leaders, driving the development of high-performing teams that enhance the independence and quality of life for people with a disability.
- Promote accountability and ownership by maintaining required accreditations and ensuring all activities meet legislative, regulatory, and organisational policy standards.
- Navigate both industry and organisational change with a proactive, human-centred approach that supports staff and participants alike.
- Foster effective collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders, including other HELP services, to enable integrated, cross-program support for participants.
- Build and support a high-performing leadership team, aligned with HELP's long-term goals, while enhancing the customer and employee experience.
- Prioritise succession planning and staff development to minimise key-person risk and support sustainable knowledge sharing across teams.
- Participate transparently in annual business performance reviews, demonstrating a willingness to receive and act on feedback at all levels of the organisation.
- Role model compliance with HELP's Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, and standards, and actively reinforce these expectations across the portfolio.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and Operations Leadership Team to address emerging operational issues and opportunities with early, solutions-focused input.
- Strengthen integration with other HELP service streams to enhance social impact while driving improved financial and commercial performance.
- Ensure compliance with HELP's Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001 & 45001), along with all relevant standards and frameworks such as the National Standards for Disability Services (NSDS), NDIS Practice Standards, ISO 27001, and Right Fit for Risk.
- Oversee strong financial governance across the portfolio, including robust financial practices, achievement of targets, budget management, cost control, and effective asset utilisation.
- Represent HELP with professionalism and integrity, fostering a strong, positive image both internally and externally as a senior leader.
- Identify and lead the implementation of quality improvement initiatives in partnership with staff, ensuring that evolving service needs are met with evidence-based, inclusive practices.
What You'll Bring:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role and a business related qualification
- Energetic and active Leadership
- Strong Strategic, planning and execution skills
- Analytic skills to manage complex issues
- High level relationship management and influencing skills
- Risk Management - understand the need for an extremely high level of compliance including the monitoring and control of government Contracts
- High level written and verbal communication skills - you can hold an audience's attention
- Able to build a fully engaged team culture
- Proven track record of exceeding goals and a true bottom-line performer
- Problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness
- Experience in dealing with Government Service Contracts
- Exceptional capacity for managing, influencing and leading people
- Thorough understanding of the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources and marketing
- Proven experience in managing across multi-site operations and a demonstrated ability to both lead and build the capabilities of a driven, bright, diverse team
- Similar experience in a highly competitive fast paced industry.
