The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 Custodial Mental Health provides safe, evidence-based, person-centred care in line with the standards, policies and procedures of the Ministry of Health and other statutory authorities. Care uses Trauma Informed Care and Recovery principles and aligns with the National Practice Standards for Mental Health Workforce and NSW Health Mental Health Competencies. The role includes assessment and management of mental health issues, discharge planning and transfer of care, and strong clinical leadership in treatment planning and clinical review systems for patients with mental health concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, evidence-based, person-centred mental health care within the custodial setting.
  • Lead and contribute to the development and review of treatment planning and clinical review systems for patients with mental health concerns.
  • Perform high-standard assessment, discharge planning and transfer of care responsibilities.
Essential Requirements
  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Three years' full-time experience working in mental health and postgraduate qualifications in mental health, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications.
The Location

Dillwynia Correctional Centre, located in Berkshire Park in Western Sydney, is a minimum-security facility for women focused on rehabilitation and community reintegration. The centre offers a safe, structured work environment with on-site parking and is approximately one hour from Sydney CBD.

Our Service and Team

Custodial Mental Health (CMH) is a specialist mental health service within the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network that provides a range of mental health services to adults in NSW correctional centres. CMH includes a specialist mental health team with mental health nurses, nurse practitioners, Aboriginal Mental Health Clinicians, psychiatrists, career medical officers, and psychiatry registrars, supported by administrative and managerial staff. Mental health services begin at reception and continue through to release or transfer.

Salary And Benefits

Your salary is $109,945.46 - $113,556.22 p.a plus superannuation and leave loading. You'll have access to:
