About the Role :

Tradewind is excited to partner with a vibrant F-9 school in Point Cook, Melbourne's West, to recruit a passionate Primary Music Teacher for a full-time, ongoing role starting in Term 3, 2025.

Key duties :

  • Develop and deliver music lessons aligned with the Victorian curriculum, covering music theory, history, performance skills, and appreciation.
  • Teach students to play various musical instruments, such as piano, guitar, recorder, or drums, based on resources and student interests.
  • Introduce music theory concepts like rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and scales in age-appropriate ways.
  • Encourage appreciation for different music styles through listening activities, discussions, and exposure to diverse musical works.
  • Assess students' progress through performances, written assignments, and practical assessments.
  • Manage musical instruments and resources to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.

Skills & Experience :

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Must have VIT registration or be in the process of obtaining it.
  • Previous experience teaching Primary Music in Australia, NZ, or placement experience is essential.
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors acceptable).
