Overview

Join to apply for the Principal Privacy Officer - Flexible role at Queensland Government.

We are seeking a dedicated Principal Privacy Officer to support the Manager in ensuring that QBCC adheres to all relevant privacy laws and regulations. In this important role, you will assist with the investigation of privacy complaints, helping to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information. You will also play a key role in delivering privacy training and awareness sessions to internal stakeholders, fostering a culture of compliance across the organisation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong investigative skills, and have a solid understanding of privacy frameworks and legislation.

Work arrangements

Work flexibly from either Brisbane or one of our regional centres: Cairns, Gold Coast, Mackay, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Townsville, Sunshine Coast (Based on office availability). The successful candidate will also have the option to engage in a work from home arrangement that suits the team under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement.

Key Outcomes and Accountabilities
  • Investigate and respond to privacy complaints and matters escalated to QBCC, in line with the Information Privacy Act 2009, QBCC Privacy Policy and Data Breach Policy and Data Breach Response Plan.
  • Provide impartial and forthright privacy advice to support compliant business projects/initiatives, including conducting Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Develop and deliver training and guidance to QBCC staff relating to conducting Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Prepare written responses, reports and ad hoc advice relating to the management of privacy complaints and breaches in line with the relevant policies and procedures.

Candidate Attributes

  • Demonstrates privacy complaints management experience, or regulatory complaints management experience, with ability to engage stakeholders showing judgement, intelligence, and high level interpersonal, consultative, negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and deliver training to targeted audiences, tailoring communication style and message, monitoring and reviewing effectiveness and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrates accountability for execution and quality of results, prioritising privacy risk mitigation.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to changes in customer and stakeholder needs and commitment to building and sustaining positive relationships.
