Northern Health provides a wide range of services across five main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital, including mental health services at various locations.

About the Role:

We are seeking qualified Maintenance Fitters to join our Engineering Department. Reporting to the Engineering Operations Manager, you will bring technical expertise to maintain and improve mechanical equipment across all sites, supporting reliability and preventative maintenance. The role involves rotation across all locations.

This role is responsible for:

  • Resolving daily maintenance issues in a team environment;
  • Providing technical support to maintenance and hospital staff;
  • Performing preventative maintenance and continuous improvement tasks;
  • Diagnosing faults and rectifying mechanical issues;
  • Carrying out breakdown repairs across all sites;
  • Planning, prioritizing, and organizing tasks;
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards;
  • Rebuilding mechanical components and maintaining workshop standards;
  • Supervising contractors and ensuring safety protocols are followed;
  • Contributing to the training and supervision of Maintenance Technicians;
  • Adhering to OH&S, Quality, and Environmental policies.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Trade qualification as a fitter and machinist;
  • Availability for on-call breakdowns and shift work;
  • Knowledge of hospital maintenance and safety requirements;
  • Supervisory skills for maintenance staff and contractors;
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • EWP Licence (advantageous);
  • Welding experience (advantageous);
  • Experience with maintenance systems (CMMS) (advantageous);
  • Confined Space certification (advantageous);
  • Experience in the health industry is preferred but not essential.
