Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior/Mid-Weight Video Editor to join our creative team. This role is perfect for someone passionate about visual storytelling, skilled in editing, and eager to grow their career in a dynamic and innovative environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating engaging video content that aligns with HostAfrica's brand identity and supports our marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Video Editing:
    • Edit video content for various platforms, including social media, YouTube, websites, and email campaigns.
    • Ensure all video outputs are on-brand, high-quality, and optimized for the platform they're intended for.
  • Creative Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the marketing and design teams to understand project objectives and deliver creative solutions.
    • Assist in brainstorming and conceptualizing video ideas that resonate with our target audience.
  • Post-Production:
    • Perform colour correction, audio balancing, and motion graphics to enhance the overall video quality.
    • Organize and maintain video assets, ensuring easy access and version control.
  • Content Creation:
    • Support in producing tutorials, promotional videos, testimonials, and brand stories. This includes infographics.
    • Adapt and repurpose existing content for different formats and audiences.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Review and refine video drafts based on feedback, ensuring alignment with creative briefs and timelines.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in video editing and implement best practices.
Skills and Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in video editing (junior) or 3-5 years (mid-weight) in a professional or freelance capacity.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve).
  • Basic knowledge of motion graphics software (e.g., Adobe After Effects).
  • Experience with sound editing and colour grading tools.
  • Familiarity with optimizing video content for different platforms (e.g., social media, YouTube).

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of SEO for video content.
  • Photography or videography skills.
