ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
As a key role within Council's Finance Service Package, the Financial Accountant provides essential financial services to the organisation and supports the Coordinator Financial Planning and Reporting in:
- routine budgeting and reporting processes, including annual budget, quarterly budget reviews, monthly reserve reporting and long-term financial plan
- accounting for Council's grant income and other funding sources and ensuring they are spent according to funding deeds and governance protocols
- preparation of monthly reconciliations and variance analysis of the Captial Works Program
- preparation of monthly reconciliations and reports for Restricted Assets
- preparation of quarterly journals for grant revenue recognition and reserve transfers
- building strong partnering relationships with key stakeholders
- communicating and collaborating with budget owners to develop and enhance finance acumen across the organisation
- assisting with service excellence reviews and continually reviewing an improving Counci's budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes
To be successful in this role, you will have tertiary qualifications in accounting, financial management or business management complemented by demonstrated experience in a similar position within amultidisciplinedorganisation. You will have demonstrated experience providing sound advice and support to wide range of key stakeholders across the organisation.
Membership ofCPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or the Institute of Public Accountants, and/or previous local government experience will be highly regarded.
This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 13 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $103,561 - $116,492 per annum plus superannuation.
