Make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing financial disadvantage
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Financial Counsellor to join our team. This role will provide financial counselling services, including information, support, and advocacy, as well as community development and community education activities that empower clients and build financial resilience.
Working closely with the Economic Justice Team, you will deliver holistic, wraparound services that improve outcomes for people facing financial hardship.
About the RoleThe Financial Counsellor will:
- Provide high-quality financial counselling support to eligible clients.
- Deliver advocacy, information, and guidance tailored to individual needs.
- Contribute to community development and financial education initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with NCLC's legal team to ensure integrated service delivery.
- Economic Justice – supporting clients at risk of homelessness to achieve financial stability.
- Steps to Legal Rights and Safe Landing – providing financial counselling for victim-survivors of family violence, including those from migrant backgrounds, as part of wraparound legal and support services.

The Northern Community Legal Centre (NCLC) is a dynamic not-for-profit generalist community legal centre which operates in one of the fastest growing areas of Melbourne, and has a significant catchment including the Merri-bek, Hume and Mitchell Shire Local Government Areas.

$103,799.28 - $108,510.53 per annum (depending on experience), plus employer funded superannuation.
