Overview

Part-Time Electronic Systems Technician (Tax-Free Pay) – Army Reserve

Base pay range: A$30.00/hr - A$30.00/hr

Role: Working with a team of highly trained technicians, you'll maintain state-of-the-art electronic control systems, such as those used in the Abrams Tank and Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV). You could also work on advanced missile systems, bio-medical equipment, remote weapon systems, electronic surveillance devices and RADAR systems, among other Army equipment. When you meet with your unit, you'll refine your technician skills, plan upcoming exercises and keep up your soldiering training.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain state-of-the-art electronic control systems used in Army equipment (e.g., Abrams Tank, ASLAV).
  • Work on advanced missile systems, bio-medical equipment, remote weapon systems, electronic surveillance devices and RADAR systems.
  • Collaborate with your unit to refine technician skills, plan exercises and maintain soldiering readiness.

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience.

On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn a package worth at least $240/day tax-free. Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.

Requirements
  • Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
  • Have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics
  • Be an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria; please review the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for details
  • Be reasonably fit and healthy. You'll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join
  • Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
  • Have completed a Certificate III in Engineering – Electronics (i.e., be a qualified Electronics Technician, Communications Technician or Optical Technician) or have evidence of completion of an approved apprenticeship/traineeship with electronic competencies aligned to that certificate
