About The Role

The Assistant House Supervisor position is a great next step for someone looking to progress their career in residential care. The Assistant House Supervisor oversees the daily care of young people by residential care workers within their assigned residential care home when the House Supervisor is not present. This role is part of the Out of Home Care Program and reports to the House Supervisor or Residential Care Coordinator in their absence.

Applicants should have demonstrated experience in residential care, particularly in a therapeutic environment. Leadership experience is preferred but not required.

Position Details

This is a full-time role based in Footscray, VIC, within our Out of Home Care Program. The position reports to the House Supervisor/Residential Care Coordinator.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and awareness of issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
  • Relevant Diploma with substantial experience, including four (4) mandatory competencies (Residential Care Skillset/Top Up Units).
  • Experience and knowledge of residential care, especially in a therapeutic setting.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and support a team of residential care workers.
  • Ability to work effectively with young people with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Skills in developing behavioural management programs for children and adolescents with challenging behaviours.
