Overview

An opportunity has arisen to join Cubico Sustainable Investments as Senior Legal Counsel – Australia. We are seeking a senior lawyer to lead our Australian legal team, including managing at least 3 direct reports.

The role involves providing legal advice across M&A, project finance, development, construction, and operational matters related to Cubico's Australian business.

This position is based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane with a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Australian legal team, managing at least 3 direct reports.
  2. Provide legal advice on company law, M&A, project finance, development, construction, and operations concerning Australian assets.
  3. Coordinate with authorities, project partners, and third parties related to development, construction, and operation of assets.
  4. Review, negotiate, and assist with acquisitions/disposals and project financing of renewable energy projects in Australia.
  5. Negotiate development, construction, and operations contracts, and advise internally.
  6. Ensure compliance with financing arrangements, liaise with lenders, and handle relevant documentation.
  7. Manage company books and advise on corporate and secretarial matters.
  8. Assist with reorganizations, restructurings, and liquidations of Australian entities.
  9. Collaborate with UK-based legal teams and external counsel as needed.
  10. Engage external legal experts for specialized advice.
  11. Support development of in-house legal expertise and internal policies.
  12. Deliver clear legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  13. Advise on legal changes in Australia affecting the business.
