We are currently seeking an Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a Full Time basis including:

Southport Sharks boasts a diverse range of food and beverage outlets, ranging from a 7-day Buffet which offers a wide assortment of international cuisines that spoils the taste buds with mouth-watering delights whilst also offering an indulging A La Carte menu. A venue that invites you to bring your culinary spin of passion to the team

To be successful in this role you would need to possess the following:
  • Qualified with a minimum Cert IV in Commercial Cookery
  • Food Safety Hygiene qualification

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Expertise in preparing authentic Nepalese and regional-specific dishes, bringing a unique culinary offering that is difficult to source locally.
  • Ability to create marketable dishes that enhance business growth and set our buffet and events apart.
  • Proficiency in both à la carte and high-volume production, ensuring consistency and quality across all menu items.
  • Skilled in executing complex regional flavors and techniques that are not commonly found in the local talent pool.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced venue with a highly skilled team, demonstrating sharp attention to detail.
  • Ensure food standards, preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques align with established recipes and quality expectations.
  • Apply creative expertise to produce high-quality meals while maintaining authenticity.
  • Assist in training chefs, apprentices, and trainees to uphold excellence in menu execution.
  • Monitor food quality, enforce hygiene standards, and report deviations to the Head Chef.
  • Promote safe work practices and maintain compliance with kitchen safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with the Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, and Executive Chef to manage workflow and kitchen operations.

Preferred Skills And Experience
  • Experience in a multi-faceted kitchen
  • Familiarity with the Food Safety Act
  • Time Management skills is a must
  • Ability to work well under pressure
