The Chief Investment Office is a global team within Group Treasury responsible for managing the Group's market risks—interest rates, cross currency basis, foreign exchange, and credit spread, arising from lending and deposit-taking activities, as well as the investment of the CBA Group's liquid assets and shareholders' funds.

We are the Cross Currency & FX team within CIO, responsible for pricing and managing the foreign currency issuance risks on the group's short-term and long-term wholesale funding activities. The team also manages a range of structural FX risk on behalf of the group. In this role
The Portfolio Manager will play a key role in the holistic management of the group's Cross Currency and FX Portfolios. Your analytical expertise and strategic focus will enhance team performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the achievement of portfolio objectives. You'll work closely with the broader CIO team and engage regularly with internal stakeholders across funding and liquidity, analytics, capital optimisation, collateral, risk, finance, and credit. The role combines analytical rigour with market‑facing responsibilities. You will have a self-starting mindset in pursuit of continuous process improvement, developing new tools and models, and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities- Run daily risk position processes and execute clearance of funding across a multi-currency balance sheet.
- Price and manage hedging requirements for all Foreign Currency Issuance.
- Support pricing requests from internal stakeholders.
- Monitor all market limits to ensure continuous compliance with desk obligations.
- Manage risk positions across relevant derivative markets, ensuring best execution aligned with desk strategy.
- Forecast risk scenarios for non‑linear exposures and engage in the strategy to manage risks.
- Deliver analysis and insights on market themes, strategy, and regulatory change.
- Leverage AI tools to drive process improvements and productivity gains that enhance desk analytics.
- Develop reliable, accurate, and robust pricing tools in partnership with analytics and technology.
- Liaise with the CIO team and broader Group Treasury to support group strategy.
- Ensure adherence to the Group Treasury framework, dealing delegations, and all relevant compliance requirements.
- Uphold the Code of Conduct, which sets the standards of behaviour, actions, and decisions we expect from our people.
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics (post-graduate qualifications highly regarded). CFA highly regarded.
- 3–5 years' experience in a market‑facing trading roles with exposure to AUD/USD/NZD Rates and/or FX, Cross Currency Basis, Repo and the execution and management of risk in derivative markets.
- Background in Treasury, Financial Markets, or Funds management preferred.
- Advanced modelling skills in Excel, VBA, SQL, and Python; data visualisation skills highly valued.
- Experience building pricing tools, RV tools and a self‑starting approach to improve processes.
- Strong understanding of bond and derivative pricing and risk management.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to interpret and analyse large data sets.
- Genuine interest in global macroeconomic themes and their application to markets and portfolio decision‑making.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Experience with Murex and Bloomberg highly regarded.
- A risk mindset—proactively identify, understand, and act on current and emerging risks.
